Delhi Capitals (DC) performance in IPL 2026 went from bad to worse as they were bowled out for a mere total of 65 against the visiting Royal Challengers Bengaluru team on Monday (April 27). Just two days after failing to deend a big target of 265, DC failed to even touch the 100-run mark. At one stage, it looked like they might break RCB’s record of the lowest total in IPL’s history (49). But they avoided that and were bowled out for 75.
Axar Patel seemed to be at a loss for words and said that he didn’t understand what happened in the fixture. “I still don’t understand what happened. But everyone says that in cricket, every day you have to be on your toes and you have to come back and do the same things again and again,” Axar said.
“But yes, when you go into the next match, you have to forget this and move on. (did the luck change for DC after the GT game?) Yes, if I talk about today, you can think like that. But I feel ifs and buts will keep happening,” he added.
DC handed a debut cap to Sahil Parakh. The debutant only survived for two balls against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Josh Hazlewood removed KL Rahul and Sameer Rizvi departed for a duck.
Wicket continued to fall and DC scored 75 runs. Abhishek Porel, who scored 30 off 33 balls, top-scored or RCB. The visitors only lost 1 wicket early but never out of conetion. Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 23 off finished the game for his team with bakc-to-back sixes.
RCB now have 12 points an NRR of +1.1919. Sunrisers Hyderabad have 10 points andsit in the third position. They are folowed by Rajasthan Royals, who have 5 wins.
Josh Hazlewood, player of the match
Josh Hazlewood has been bestowed with the player of the match award. “Yeah, I think, probably turning up here after 500-plus runs last game, probably weren’t expecting what happened, but, yeah, it feels like Bhuvi and I have been pretty close to producing a really good powerplay. So yeah, I just followed his lead basically again and, yeah, what happened, happened, so it was a great result. (on the wicket) There was a little bit there in the first, you know, first six overs, which we maximised,” he said.
Hazlewood has 8 wickets in only 5 matches in the season. With 14 wickets each, Buvnheswar Kumar and Eshan top the wicket-taking charts. Maliga and Josh Hazlwood has 8 wickets in 5 matches.
RCB will face Gujarat Titans in their next game on April 30 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB have entered IPL 2026 as the defending champions and they are playing like champions in the season.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will make their return against Rajasthan Royals on May 1 in Jaipur. Jaipur is RR’s home ground and they play the majority of their home matches at this venue. Punjab Kings top the IPL 2-26 Apoints table.
