West Bengal Election Result 2026: The West Bengal Assembly election has entered a decisive phase as counting gets underway across the state. As election results advance towards conclusion, the BJP, which is currently leading in over 200 seats, has already claimed victory in over 160 seats while Trinamool Congress (TMC) is leading on over 70 seats, and winning over 50 of them. In another crucial development, incumbent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also lost her seat – Bhabanipur – against BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari by a margin of over 15,000 votes. In the 2021 election, Banerjee had lost to Adhikari in Nandigram, making this contest closely watched. The election follows the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which became a major campaign issue after over 91 lakh names were removed.
