Significance of Adhik Maas Purnima
Adhik Maas Purnima is regarded as extremely sacred in Hindu tradition and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This special full moon, which occurs once every three years. But what makes it extra sacred is that following rituals and observances of Adhik Maas purnima is believed to destroy sins and bring moksha, prosperity, and happiness.
It is said that performing snan, daan, and the Satyanarayan vrat on this day brings many times more spiritual merit compared to an ordinary full moon day.
What to do on Adhik Maas Purnima
- One must wake up early, and take a dip in a sacred river. If you cannot visit the river, then put Gangajal (Ganga water) in your bathing water
- Worship Lord Vishnu in his Satyanarayan form
- Light a diya using sesame oil
- Give charity, especially clothes, food, or money
