Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was recently linked to the widely discussed controversy surrounding the Epstein Files, a large set of documents connected to the late convicted s*x offender Jeffrey Epstein. Now, in an interview, he has broken his silence on the mention of his name, calling it random and clarifying that he has never been to Beijing but has only visited China. For the unversed, the filmmaker-turned-actor shocked his fans after his name appeared in one of the controversial emails. According to the documents, he had been invited to an event in China and was proposed as a speaker.

During a recent interview with Sit With Hitlist, Anurag Kashyap clarified that he does not know about the email, and he has never been to Beijing. He mentioned that he had been to China but it was way before 2014. “I was a recce in Bombay,” he concluded. For those who don’t know, Kashyap’s name made headlines in the Epstein Files email with a reference to ‘Bollywood guy’ or a ‘famous Bollywood director.’
The email also included associates such as Giuseppe Bersani, Gino Yu, and Ornella Corazza. It reportedly discussed Epstein’s planned trips to Cuba and other destinations, list Anurag among the individuals expected to attend workshops focused on Buddhism, technology, and medicine.

The film initially premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. Three years later, Kennedy finally got a India release. Prior to this project, Anurag’s movie, Nishaaanchi, was theatrically released. It marked the Bollywood debut of Aaishvary Thackeray. After the film was released, the second part premiered on Amazon Prime Video.
