Multiple explosions have been reported at an industrial site in Newark, prompting an emergency response from fire crews. Authorities said the incident occurred at 104 Lister Avenue in the city’s Ironbound district, an area known for its concentration of shipping, logistics and chemical-related businesses. According to a post by Nationwide Emergency and Notification Alerts, fire officials declared a second alarm after command units reported “multiple explosions in the rear” of the building.
They also requested a marine task force, including fireboats, to assist with the response.
Local outlet Ironbound Newz reported that the fire has affected a cluster of nearby businesses, with witnesses saying flames spread across the premises.
The Ironbound district hosts several industrial operations, including facilities dealing with freight and chemicals, raising concerns about the potential risks associated with the blaze. Fire officials have reportedly established a collapse zone at the rear of the building as a precaution, while crews work to contain the flames and prevent further spread.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. There has been no official confirmation of injuries so far. Emergency services are continuing to monitor the situation and are expected to provide further updates.
The incident comes weeks after another fire in the same neighbourhood. On 3 March, a blaze broke out at the Hyatt Court housing complex in the Ironbound area, prompting a response from the Newark Fire Division. Residents were temporarily evacuated, though firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby apartments.
