Delhi is set to get India’s first fully operational Ring Metro this weekend as two new Delhi Metro corridors are inaugurated on March 8, completing the loop of the Pink Line and expanding connectivity across North, Northeast and Northwest Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur corridor on the Pink Line and the Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park extension on the Magenta Line, while also laying the foundation stone for three new corridors under Phase V (A) of the metro expansion.

What Is Delhi’s Ring Metro?

The Ring Metro refers to the fully connected Pink Line loop, which runs along Delhi’s inner Ring Road and links several major residential and commercial areas. Once the new Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur stretch opens, the Pink Line will form a continuous loop of around 72 km, making it the first operational ring-style metro corridor in India.

Pink Line New Corridor: Route And Stations

The 12.3-km Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur corridor will include 10 stations, most of which are elevated.

Stations on the corridor:

Majlis Park, Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Soorghat, Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Maujpur-Babarpur.

This section will improve metro access for densely populated areas along the Yamuna, including Burari, Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas and Bhajanpura, which currently rely heavily on road transport.

The corridor also features a new metro bridge across the Yamuna and a double-decker viaduct carrying both a metro track and a road flyover.

This extension will connect areas in the outer parts of West and Northwest Delhi such as Bhalswa and Haiderpur to the existing Magenta Line network that links Noida, South Delhi and West Delhi.

A portion of this corridor reaches a height of around 28.36 metres, making it one of the highest elevated stretches in the Delhi Metro network.
