The White House has told Israel that nuclear negotiations with Iran are nearing a critical point, according to an Israeli official cited by Channel 12. The official said US officials had indicated that further diplomatic progress would be difficult unless Tehran shows greater willingness to accept the demands set out by President Donald Trump.
The comments came hours after the second round of talks between Iran and the United States concluded in Geneva on Tuesday, unfolding against a backdrop of rising military pressure from Trump and Tehran’s ongoing military drills in the Strait of Hormuz. The discussions lasted nearly three hours, after which delegations departed from the residence of Oman’s ambassador, who mediated the meeting. Tehran reiterated that any potential nuclear agreement must include relief from US sanctions. “Sanctions lifting is part and parcel of any deal on the nuclear issue,” foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said.
Ahead of the negotiations, an Iranian official told Reuters that progress would hinge on Washington’s seriousness about lifting sanctions and avoiding what Tehran described as “unrealistic demands.”
