What is fashion without a bit of drama? If there is one thing Louis Vuitton has mastered, it is the art of grabbing attention. And yes, this time as well, their latest handbag is breaking the internet. It looks like a fancy watering can, which has the LV monogram logo all over. And if that was not it to shock everyone, the price came into the picture. The bag, which in itself is a conversation starter, is priced at a whopping Rs 4.3 Lakh. Yes, you read that right.
The piece is a part of the men’s Spring/Summer collection designed by Pharrell Williams, which has been built around the idea of growth and nurturing. What this basically means is that the bag is not trying to fit into wardrobes. In fact, it has been designed to be seen and photographed!
Despite its whimsical form, the craftsmanship of this statement piece remains unmistakably Vuitton. The signature monogram canvas wraps around the curved body. Then comes a structured handle and detachable strap, which ensures that it can technically function like a regular bag. As per fashion experts, pieces like these are less about everyday use and more about visibility. While on one hand, they showcase creativity and craftsmanship; on the other, they are just a viral moment to keep the brand in talks.
This is not the first time that such an absurd product has gone viral. Luxury fashion has been flirting with the idea of “object bags” for a while now. Accessories that mimic everyday items but are stripped of their original function are being reintroduced as status symbols.
Earlier, LV launched a Sandwich Bag at a price of Rs 2.8 lakh. “The Louis Vuitton Sandwich Bag is made from supple cowhide leather in exactly the same colour as the House’s famed shopping bags. And features the same ‘Louis Vuitton’ and ‘Maison Fondee En 1854’ lettering found on the bags. Inside there’s a zipped pocket and a double flat pocket to keep things organized,” the label wrote on its website.
This bag also comes folded in a way to resemble its everyday twin. It’s got the famous Louis Vuitton letters and a snazzy blue closure, kind of like the handles on their bags. Perfect for keeping your sandwiches safe – or maybe something even fancier!
