New Bajaj Dominar 400 Launched In India With 350cc Engine, Price Drops Big

bajaj dominar 400 new 350cc engine price cut india launch

Bajaj has launched the new Bajaj Dominar 400 in India with a smaller 350cc engine and a lower price tag. This is important because buyers now get a saving of nearly Rs 37,000 which has obviously made the motorcycle more accessible without changing its core purpose. The update is not about adding new features or redesigning the bike. Instead, it focuses on reducing ownership cost by taking advantage of a lower GST bracket linked to engine capacity. The result is a familiar product at a noticeably lower entry price which could influence buying decisions in this segment.

Smaller Engine, Lower Price

The highlight change is the shift from the earlier engine to a 350cc unit. This adjustment allows Bajaj to pass on an 18 per cent GST benefit to customers. Because of this, the Dominar 400 is now priced at Rs 2.03 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to the earlier pricing, that translates to a reduction of close to Rs 37,000. This is a meaningful difference for buyers considering motorcycles in this range.

Speaking of the mechanicals, the engine puts out 40 hp of maximum power along with 33.2 Nm of peak torque. With a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres and a seat height of 800 mm, the hardware setup of the new Dominar 400 consists of 43 mm USD front fork as well as 320 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes. The bike also comes with dual-channel ABS.

On the feature front, you will find USB charging, a digital LCD (coloured), LED headlamp and taillamp, and self-start system.

The update, thus, is less about altering the bike itself and more about making it financially easier to own. The strategy is clear: adjust the engine capacity to unlock tax benefits and pass that advantage directly to the customer.

What Stays The Same

Even with the engine change, Bajaj says the motorcycle continues to deliver the same core performance and touring-focused character.

The Dominar has always been positioned as a bike that can handle daily commutes as well as longer rides and that positioning remains unchanged. There are no major shifts in how the bike is intended to be used. It continues as an all-rounder for riders who want one machine for mixed usage.

In simple terms, if you’ve experienced the Dominar before, the overall feel and purpose are expected to remain largely the same.

What Buyers Should Know

From a buyer’s perspective, the biggest takeaway is the lower price. A reduction of nearly Rs 37,000 brings the Dominar closer to a wider set of customers without requiring them to move to a smaller segment.

At the same time, the engine downsizing could be something potential buyers will look into more closely especially those comparing specifications across options. Bajaj, however, maintains that the core experience remains intact.

What this really means is that the update is focused on cost rather than change. If pricing was a barrier earlier, it is now less of one, while the overall role of the motorcycle stays the same.
