Cody Rhodes’ second reign as the Undisputed WWE Champion came to an end following the defeat against Drew McIntyre in the main event of Smackdown in Berlin. McIntyre won the third match inside the Steel Cage in the three stages of hell match to be crowned the champion. The decision to make Cody lose the title was, of course, taken by the WWE creative, headed by Triple H. A shocking stat related the Triple H has emerged following Cody’s shocking defeat on Smackdown. Triple H is a 14-time world champion. He is a former WWE Champion and World Heavyweight champion.
He held the WWE Championship for 609 days across different reigns. Cody, who has had two reigns as the WWE champion, has jointly held the title for 537 days. He was 73 days away from overtaking Triple H in the elite list.
Usually, world titles don’t change hands on weekly shows and Cody’s defeat left everyone shocked. Cody is still 73 days away from overtaking Triple H and he has to win the WWE Championship to go past him. It remains to be seen when Cody wins this title next.
Cody’s title reigns
Cody finished his story and defeated Roman Reigns in the main event of Wrestlemania 40 to win his first world championship. Triple H has been leading WWE’s creative team since 2022 and he played a key role in making Cody win the title.
Cody held the title till Wrestlemania 41. His title reign came to an end after 378 days at the hands of John Cena. Cody got a rematch against Cena at SummerSlam 2025.
The duo locked horns in probably Cena’s best match of his retirement tour. Cody defeated the 17-time world champion to kick off his second reign as the champion. He retained the title over McIntyre in 2025.
McIntyre finally defeated Cody on Smackdown to end his second title reign after 159 days. McIntyre is now a four-time world champion. He had two WWE championship reigns in 2020/21. He won the World Heavyweight Championship from Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania 40, but could only retain it for five minutes as Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on him. He is likely to have a long reign as the Undisputed WWE Champion.
