Sony is yet again making every gamer’s jaw drop, but not with a new game announcement this time. It has been revealed in a few reports that Sony has been testing dynamic pricing on the PlayStation Store as of now. According to a report by PSPrices, Sony has been working on dynamic pricing and testing it on games starting from November 2025.
As per the reports, more than 68 regions and over 139 games that also include AAA titles like Spider-Man, God of War, and more are getting average discounts from 5 per cent to 18 per cent. Furthermore, it has also been mentioned that some of the accounts even got discounts of up to 56 per cent on Helldivers 2.
As of now, the experiment is being run in regions like the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Apart from that, markets like Japan and United States are excluded from the experiment possibly because of tight market regulations.
How Well It Will Go With The Gamers?
See, this kind of thing works both as a boon and a bane for the gamers. For examples, let’s say you have been waiting since the last few months to get Ghost of Yotei at a discount and you final get it for Rs 4,599, now, a friend of you comes and says that he bought the game today itself for Rs 3,999, that hurts, right? So, according to me, the dynamic pricing will confuse the gamers in making a purchase decision as they will always wait for bigger discounts on the titles they would have purchased at the launch price, even. However, for all those who discounts on the PlayStation Store like sniffer dogs, this feature could prove to be a bane.
Until now, Sony has not released any official statement regarding the global application of the feature. Let’s see if it becomes the new norm on the Sony PS store or gets scrapped after pissing a majority of gamers.
