The air quality of Delhi NCR has once again plunged to the ‘severe plus’ category. Considering the issue, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Saturday invoked the GRAP Stage IV restrictions across the national capital region. Due to this, many students and parents are wondering if the schools in Delhi-NCR will remain closed tomorrow, January 19, 2026.

As of now, the authorities have not announced the closure of educational institutions in Delhi. If and when an official confirmation arrives, we will update this page.

As per PTI reports, on Sunday morning, a thick fog gripped the national capital, with the minimum temperature settling at 5.3 degrees Celsius, 2.3 notches below the season’s average.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also sounded a yellow alert due to dense fog at numerous isolated places until afternoon.

Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius; Palam, 8 degrees Celsius; Lodhi Road, 6.8 degrees Celsius; the Ridge, 7.2 degrees Celsius; and Ayanagar, 7 degrees Celsius, the IMD data showed.

Earlier, the government schools in Delhi were directed to remain shut between January 1 and 15, 2026. Private schools were exercising their discretion in announcing holidays. Due to this, many parents were complaining that their children were being asked to attend physical classes in chilly winters.
