Honda recalled over 70,000 vehicles in the United States due to a problem that can reduce brake function. The issue may increase the risk of a crash or injury, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall covers certain 2016-2020 Honda Acura ILX models. About 0.3% of the 70,658 vehicles, or roughly 212 cars, may have the defect.
Why Did This Happen?
Honda said contaminated brake fluid can cause a seal inside the brake master cylinder to swell and deform. This may lead to an internal brake fluid leak, which can impair braking and increase the distance needed to stop.

What Should Honda Users Do?
Owners of affected vehicles should take their cars to a Honda dealership. Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder free of charge. Interim letters informing owners of the risk are expected by February 2, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the repair is available.
Affected vehicle owners should schedule repairs as soon as possible. Drivers of 2016-2020 Honda Acura ILX vehicles should check if their car is included in the recall. They can contact Honda or visit a local dealership to arrange a free repair.
