Days after a 19-year-old exposed the Central Board of Secondary Education’s data breach on the OSM portal, another X user has claimed that data of all JEE Advanced 2026 candidates was being exposed on the internet. The X user with the username ‘@DarthKermi72747’ had claims that a public cloud storage linked to the JEE Advanced 2026 result system had been configured in a way that allowed access without authentication.
The X user claimed that this data included candidate names, dates of birth, and mobile numbers. Screenshots shared in the post appeared to show admit card documents and result-related data records. While one screenshot displayed multiple JEE Advanced 2026 documents containing candidate information, another showed structured result data including subject-wise marks, ranks and personal details, with some information redacted.
“JEE Advanced 2026 candidate/result infrastructure (https://cdata.jeeadv.ac.in/result2026/) had a public cloud storage misconfiguration exposing bulk candidate data without auth,” the X user tweeted. “This exposed ~179.6k result records and ~187.3k admit-card PDFs, including candidate names, DOBs and mobile numbers.”
The user also added that the “vulnerability found here is similar to the vuln found by @ni5arga leaking all the CBSE anwser scripts.”
A few hours after the original tweet, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee — the organising body of JEE Advanced 2026 — admitted that the issue is being looked at on priority.
“Thank you @DarthKermy72747 for pointing out the configuration issue in the *cloud storage device*. The same is being plugged on priority. The data stored was read-only and so there was no possibility of any alteration. We applaud your responsible and ethical behaviour,” the institute replied to the tweet.
This tweet comes a few days after the JEE Advanced 2026 on May 31. The results were scheduled to release on June 1, but was declared a few hours before the scheduled date.
This time, a total of 1,87,389 candidates registered for JEE (Advanced) 2026, out of which 1,79,694 appeared in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the examination conducted on May 17, 2026. Of the candidates who appeared, 56,880 have qualified the examination. Among the qualified candidates, 10,107 are female candidates.
