The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle issued a coastal flood advisory at 2:26 p.m. Tuesday, warning of minor coastal flooding across parts of western Washington on Wednesday between 6 a.m. and noon.
The advisory covers the Lowlands of Western Whatcom County; Lowlands of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish counties; the Downtown Everett–Marysville area; Shoreline, Lynnwood, and South Everett; the City of Seattle; Lowlands of Pierce and Southern King counties; as well as San Juan and Island counties.
“Minor coastal flooding expected,” the NWS said, noting that inundation of 1.75 to 2.25 feet above ground level is possible along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas. Officials said flooding is expected during the hours around the morning high tide, driven by tidal overflow.
According to the NWS, the flooding may impact parking lots, parks, and roads, with only isolated road closures anticipated. The advisory remains in effect until noon Wednesday. The NWS clarified that inundation above ground level refers to height above the Mean Higher High Water (MHHW) level.

The NWS urged residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas to take precautions, including seeking higher ground if needed and following evacuation instructions without delay. Travelers are advised to allow extra time, avoid driving around barricades, and never enter water of unknown depth.
Officials also warned against walking through floodwaters, noting that as little as six inches of moving water can knock a person off their feet, while 12 inches of rushing water can sweep away most vehicles. Residents were advised to avoid flooded basements, stay away from submerged electrical outlets, and contact emergency services if trapped by rising water.
