Fashion in 2026 will be less about shock value and more about intention. After years of loud trends and micro-aesthetics, the fashion world is finally going to slow down – but in a thoughtful and elevated way. All in all, gearing up for 2026 is not about a single trend – it is going to be a mix of ideas meant to be worn and slightly messed up.
Here is a list of trends that will dominate 2026.
Layering All The Way
Think you have mastered layering? Spring’s runways showed that there is still plenty of room to experiment. On the runways, they flipped the script, layering tanks and T-shirts over long-sleeve tops as they created unexpected proportions and playful contrasts.
A New Obsession: Draping
The upcoming year, people will have a new obsession with movement on the runway. Meaning, it is going to be all about the fabric that twists, gathers and drapes instead of holding a fixed shape. These are going to be softer silhouettes and they are making their way into closets around the world as you read this.
Electric Blue
Pantone may have predicted the color of the year to be Cloud Dancer but the runways were all about Yves Klein Blue. This bold hue, which is most famously attributed to ’60s artist Yves Klein, is not new to the fashion-scape. However, now that it is coming back, it is going to come back powerfully, dominating the runways from designer to designer.
Time For Some Leather Mania
While leather is usually associated with colder weather, its ties to the runways showcases that it can be surprisingly versatile. This season, the material will move beyond classic black and will be available in softer, unexpected shades that will feel fresh and seasonal. On runways, designers showcased buttery leather and faux leather in tones like tan, chocolate, grey and even muted green.
Up Your Scarf Game!
Scarves are going to step out of their usual role around the neck and turn into more unexpected territory. On the Louis Vuitton runways, we saw classic wool scarves being repurposed as belts. This showed how a simple accessory can completely transform an outfit. It is also an easy way to refresh your wardrobe with pieces you already own.
