A bomb threat was reported at Yorba Linda High School on Wednesday morning, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and school officials and forcing students to shelter in place while deputies investigated.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD), school administrators received a phone call containing a threat at approximately 9 a.m. The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District later described the call as “an inappropriate message.” A teacher confirmed the timing of the call to local media.

Deputies from OCSD – Yorba Linda Police Services responded to the campus and began investigating what authorities described as suspicious circumstances. Out of an abundance of caution, deputies conducted a proactive sweep of the campus, including the main school grounds, pool area, and athletic fields.

During the investigation, students were instructed to remain inside classrooms and were not released. In a message sent to parents and guardians, the school’s principal reassured families that the campus was safe and that law enforcement was taking precautionary measures.

OCSD also urged the public to avoid the area while deputies completed their search. It remains unclear whether anything suspicious was found during the sweep.

Shortly before 11:30 AM, an announcement over the school’s public address system informed students and staff that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted. No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation, authorities said.
