Under head coach Pamela Conti, the team reached the knockout stage as the second-best third-placed group finisher, following a win against Lebanon in their final group match.
China enters the quarterfinal as the favorite, having topped Group A with three consecutive shutout victories against Myanmar (6-0), Vietnam (3-0), and Thailand (6-0).
