The meeting comes after peace talks between Washington and Tehran stalled over the weekend. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has been engaged in a series of diplomatic meetings, including a visit to Russia where he held talks with President Vladimir Putin.
Araghchi said discussions with Putin covered the conflict in detail. His trip followed earlier meetings in Pakistan and Oman. During his visit to Pakistan, Araghchi said he had provided officials with a list of “red lines” to convey to the United States, including issues related to Iran’s nuclear programme and the Strait of Hormuz.
