Why is ‘Call of Duty’ trending on Google Trends today?
‘Call of Duty’ fans were left heartbroken after the sad news of the video game’s co-creator passing away surfaced on the internet. Vince Zampella, the game’s co-creator, passed away on Sunday, December 20. The man behind the game lost his life in a car crash in Los Angeles, California. Zampella, 55, was in a Ferrari when the crash happened, on a Los Angeles highway. It was Electronic Arts-owned Respawn Entertainment, a game studio that was co-founded by Zampella, that confirmed the saddening news. As soon as the reports of his passing away began to circulate, the search volume for the game also began to skyrocket– hence, its virality.
Reportedly, Zampella was not alone in the car when the vehicle crashed; however, it is unclear whether Zampella was the driver or if he was in the passenger seat. The other car passenger, too, lost his life in the accident.
