The United States has carried out airstrikes across multiple parts of the world in 2025, including Nigeria, Somalia, Iran, Yemen, the Caribbean, and the Eastern Pacific.
US President Donald Trump on Thursday (Christmas Day) said the US military launched strikes against Islamic State fighters in northwest Nigeria. He said the militants targeted and killed Christians in the region.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that the strike was ordered under his direction as commander in chief. He called the targets “ISIS terrorist scum” and said the operation was meant to stop attacks on innocent people.
Trump said the group had killed Christians at levels “not seen for many years, and even centuries.” He did not give details about the number of airstrikes, casualties, or the exact locations involved.
