The Republic Day release, Border 2, is eagerly awaited by Bollywood fans. Varun Dhawan, who joins the Border franchise with the sequel, is equally excited for fans to watch the war film. On January 6, he held an online session allowing fans to ask him questions about anything. The Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari actor cleared the air about any new films he may have signed and revealed his brutal preparation to film Border 2’s intense battle sequences. Varun revealed that he had injured himself during a big battle scene. Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 also stars Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. It will release in theatres on January 23.

Varun Dhawan’s Border 2 preparation

The shooting for Border 2 has been long and grueling. During his Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on X (formerly Twitter), Varun Dhawan was asked by a fan about his physical preparation for Border 2 and his workout. Varun replied, “Bahut prepare karna tha. I infact injured my tail bone while shooting the battle of Basantar. I shot 40 days in Babina for that with real soldiers #varunsays.”

Written by Sumit Arora and Anurag Singh, Border 2 is based on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. The original 1997 was directed by JP Dutta. Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana also co-star in the Border sequel.

Varun Dhawan’s upcoming projects

In addition to talking about Border 2, Varun also shared that he had yet to sign any new film after Border 2. The actor stated, “I haven’t signed any film post #border2 everything else which has come is a rumour.”

He shared this info after a fan said, “Bhai backout from that rom com with maddock.” The other film yet to release in 2026 for Varun is the comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by his father, David Dhawan. His co-stars in the Bollywood film are Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur.
