Colombian regional music star Yeison Jimenez died in a plane crash on Saturday, authorities and local news outlets reported. Jimenez and five other people aboard the small aircraft were killed when the plane crashed just after take off in the Paipa area of Boyaca, Colombia.
A video footage shared by Rapid Report showed the plane on the runway moments before the crash.
Early reports say the charter flight failed to gain altitude and fell close to the end of the runway near Paipa airport. The aircraft caught fire after crashing in a field near the runway.
Officials have not yet released full details about the victims, but Jimenez and five of his companions, reportedly his musicians and crew, were among those who died.
The singer, Yeison Orlando Jimenez Galeano, 34, was returning from a performance in Boyaca and was flying to Medellín before heading to another scheduled show in Marinilla.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, and more information is expected as officials review the aircraft.
