A tornado has reportedly touched down in Clinton, with early reports pointing to significant damage across parts of the city. Local radio station News/Talk KRMS said initial information suggests the storm has already caused disruptions, including downed power lines.
In a post shared online, the station reported: “Reports are coming in that a tornado did hit Clinton Missouri… power lines are down, wal-mart & the high school likely hit. We are waiting for more details as they come in….”
Additional updates from KSHB said the Henry County emergency manager confirmed a tornado was on the ground near Calvird Drive crossing Highway 13 on the south side of Clinton. Meteorologist Kevin Lighty also noted that the tornado appeared to have hit the south side of town, with a debris signature showing up on radar, an indication of possible damage.
While details are still emerging, the mention of key locations like a Walmart store and a local high school being “likely hit” has raised concerns about the extent of damage.
Authorities have not yet released an official assessment, and it remains unclear how severe the impact is or whether there are any injuries. Residents are expected to await further updates as emergency response teams assess the situation.
