Siddharth Nikhoria, a participant in the Boys Under-14 category at the Surya Pickleball Tournament in Indore, shed light on why pickleball is quickly becoming a favourite sport among youngsters.
It is easy to play, and it has immense fitness benefits. It also doesn’t take much time,” Siddharth told Pickleball Now, explaining what makes the sport appealing, especially for students balancing academics and recreation.

Drawing comparisons with tennis, Siddharth highlighted the familiarity in techniques that helps players adapt quickly. “In tennis, the technique of hitting a forehand stroke is similar to this. Backhand and double-handed players also hit forehands like this. It is easy for tennis players to play,” he noted.
He also emphasised the mental and social benefits of the sport. “The tiredness from playing pickleball goes away. You can meet everyone in the evening. It is like a refreshment after studying,” Siddharth added.

The Surya Pickleball Tournament, a PWR 100 event organised under the aegis of the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), brought together 90 players competing across 18 categories in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
